Benjamin Milam Norwood was born October 3, 1959 in Wichita Falls, Texas. Ben graduated from Highland Park High School where he was a decorated member of the Scots football team. He went on to Texas Christian University then later transferred to UT Austin where he received a Bachelor of Business Administration with a focus on Petroleum Land Management. Following his time at UT, he enjoyed a successful, 23 year career with Hunt Petroleum as a Landman, Real Estate Manager, and Manager of the Ad Valorem Tax Department.
He was loyal, kind, gentle, fun loving, and never met someone he couldn’t be friends with. He loved his family, his dogs, the Beatles and was a big Horned Frogs and Longhorns fan and really a huge football fan in general - high school college, pro, whatever! Ben used the simple term “great” to describe the things he loved best and despite its simplicity, when Ben said it, you knew he really meant it. A great day for Ben was hanging with friends and family, watching a ball game on TV, while simultaneously listening to a football game on his old school head phones.
Ben is survived by his wife, Carol Douglass Norwood and daughter Morgan Elizabeth Norwood of Dallas, Texas, sisters Sue Norwood Flynn (Bram) of Dallas, Loretta Norwood Daughters (Jim) of Richardson, Texas, and Betsy Norwood Fantle (Jeffrey) of Gaithersburg, Maryland. He also adored and was adored by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
