Charles R. Brocato, 84, of Richardson, TX, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 14th, 2025, surrounded by his beloved family. Born in Shreveport, LA, on September 13, 1940, to John and Jessie Brocato (Davis), Chuck lived a life full of love, service, and devotion.
Chuck graduated from Jesuit High School in Shreveport, LA, and went on to serve his country with pride as part of both the Army and Air Force Reserves for six years. He was a true patriot, deeply committed to the values of the First and Second Amendments of the Constitution. Chuck had a passion for firearms and the idea of protecting his loved ones, embodying the spirit of a guardian.
His career led him to Dallas with Seagram’s, but his passion for sales and connecting with people inspired him to embark on a successful venture in new home sales that would span 30 years. On June 8th, 1963, Chuck married the love of his life, Royce Giles Brocato, in Shreveport, LA.
Chuck was a devoted member of Christ the King Catholic Church, and his faith was a cornerstone of his life. He and his wife, Royce, were actively involved in the Bread Ministry, which helped the less fortunate and allowed them to serve others. Chuck cherished taking his family on road trips, always seeking out the oldest Catholic churches to visit, from the Loretta Chapel in Santa Fe to St. Mary’s Church in Subiaco. His love for the Dallas Cowboys and the LSU Tigers was well-known, and he found joy in teaching himself to play guitar, collecting several over the years. Chuck's love for Cajun food was a reflection of his vibrant spirit and zest for life.
Above all, Chuck's greatest love was his family. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Royce; daughters Angela Hawkins and her husband Greg, and Melissa Coachman and her husband Bruce; grandchildren Madeline Hagmann and her husband Ryne, Mary Woods and her fiancé Sean Shanklin, Sydney Hawkins, and Charlie Jane Hawkins.
The Brocato family extends their deepest gratitude to the Reserve at Richardson. Every aspect of his care was handled with professionalism and heartfelt dedication. The compassion and care they provided to Chuck in the final months of his life will forever be cherished and remembered by his family
