

Our beloved husband, father and grandfather died peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, May 23, 2014. Chuck was born March 3, 1931 to Charles Eugene Sr. and Bernice Blount Cutler in Lincoln, NE. He lived a good share of his life in Des Moines and Sioux City, Iowa.
He graduated with a BA degree in Political Science from The University of Iowa in 1954. Chuck and Patricia Pew were married August 19, 1954. After 2 years of service in the Army following ROTC, he, Pat and new baby Candy returned from Germany to reside in Des Moines, IA. Daughter Jeri was born in the years following. In 1966, Chuck and his family transferred to Dallas, TX with ARCO Petroleum, finding their home in Richardson. Chuck had a passion for singing in church choirs and had been doing so since he was a member of the Boy's Choir at the Cathedral in Des Moines. He was a devout Christian and a lifelong member of the Episcopal Church, attending St. Luke's and Epiphany while in Texas. Chuck was always looking out for his family. He was a dependable, loyal, honest and modest man. He was a loving husband, father and an adoring grandfather.
Chuck and Pat, in their retirement years, have enjoyed square dancing, RV-ing, traveling most of the U.S., and taking trips abroad. They moved 6 years ago to Highland Springs Retirement Community where Chuck was involved in the chorus, the "Woodchucks," and making many friends. Chuck enjoyed being outdoors, listening to jazz, telling jokes, and wood crafting.
Chuck is survived by Pat, his wife of almost 60 years; daughter Candy Biggs and husband Mark; daughter Jeri Cutler; granddaughter Christie Biggs; and granddaughter Angela Penfold and husband Clark.
The Memorial Service will be held Saturday, May 31, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at The Episcopal Church of the Epiphany, 421 Custer Road, Richardson, TX 75080.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Episcopal Church of the Epiphany ONWARD Building Fund or the American Diabetes Association.
