Cleveland Kent Berry, of Dallas, passed away September 5, 2018. He was born September 12, 1957 in Belize City. Known as CB to all who loved him, he joined the U.S. Marines at the age of 28 and served for four years. He was affectionately referred to as "grandpa" by his comrades. CB was a Software Engineer for MCI and then Anthelio. All of his accomplishments can be attributed to his admiration of work well done.
His daughter was the light of his life. Coworkers and friends could comment on how his face brightened when he spoke of her. He always set apart a moment when hosting his dinners to say how proud he was of his daughter. No matter how it might have embarrassed her at the moment.
CB loved to cook. Whether hosting a dinner party for a birthday or holiday, or just to bring dear ones closer, CB was always happy to feed those important to him. It was hard work, but an expression of his affection.
He ran his last marathon in 2016 and enjoyed the Pride celebrations every year, often in more than one state.
CB's generosity was noteworthy as well. He was quick to come to the aid of friends and family, happy to assist after an injury or illness, and ready to help along those who deserved his benevolence. He is preceded in death by parents, Cleveland Kent Berry and Julia Berry, and sister Marla Berry Holder.
He is survived by his daughter, Amanda Corinne Berry, and siblings Belinda, Dawn, William, Julie, and Andre.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm on Wednesday, September 12, 2018, at Sparkman Funeral Home Chapel in Richardson, TX.
