She was born on August 6, 1931 to Hugh Garner Brewer and Mary Floyd Brewer Taylor. Connie was raised in Dallas and upstate New York. She graduated from Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School in New York City, returning to Dallas upon graduation. She met the love of her life, Bill O’Connor, in the Singles’ Group of the day, the Vincentian Club, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, where they were married in 1954.
They were married for 65 years until his death three months ago.
After spending years raising her children, Connie founded A AAA Answering Secretary, Answering Service and Executive Suites, in 1974 and managed it until she sold it in 1994.
For many years, Connie and Bill continued to socialize with their friends from the Vincentian Club, in a new group they called The Ball and Chain Club. In later years, they learned square dancing with the Swinging Saints, and she cherished the many friends they made there. Connie then founded the Plus Fours, an Advanced Square Dance Club, and served as President for several years. She was also an avid bridge player and for years enjoyed playing 3 times a week at the Richardson Senior Center.
Connie is survived by her brother, Don Taylor, six children Tom (Rene), Cheryl O’Grady (Don), Cathy Tucker (Mike), Bill, Tim (Kelly), and Connie Baird (Mark), Connie Petticrew, twenty grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank The Friends Place for the help they provided during her battle with Alzheimer’s, her fellow bridge players at the Richardson Senior Center, and especially the staff at Monarch of Richardson for the wonderful care they provided during her final years. Visitation will be Tuesday, Feb. 11, from 6 to 8 pm, with the Rosary at 7 at Sparkman Funeral Home, 1029 S. Greenville Ave, Richardson. The Funeral will be at 10 am Wednesday, Feb. 12 at St. Paul the Apostle, 720 S. Floyd Rd, Richardson.
