I worked for Mr. Nemec in 1970 at the Western Electric plant here in Oklahoma City. My first real job, as a Keypunch Operator when the Computer Room was actually the computer filled a whole room. He was strict, tough & had the driest sense of humor. You knew exactly where you stood with him. He made me into the worker that I was & am today. I was not late, I was prepared to work at starting time because that’s what he told us to do. Also, I didn’t want to put myself in the position of being on the receiving end of his anger. He set the example, he didn’t ask us to do anything that he was not doing himself. And I will forever remember the time our new data entry machines had a monitor. So I left my friend Ruth, on the next shift, Roses are red, Green is the grass, Get your work done, Or they’ll fire your ass!! Except it was the very religious lady sat at that machine. Which prompted Mr. Nemec to give us his infamous You girls have to watch your God Damned language speech. I’m so sorry for your loss & I know you will miss him For Forever.
