Edith Perle Johnson

Edith Perle Johnson passed from this earthly life to eternity in heaven on September 6, 2015. Edith Perle was born on November 21, 1916 in Aubrey Texas to mother Mary Allie Crawford Simpson and father Willie Clyde Simpson. She attended school in Aubrey graduating in 1934. After graduation from high school, Edith Perle worked in her father’s drugstore and in 1936; Edith Perle married Neal Gene Johnson of Celina, Texas. Their family grew with the births of daughters Jeannine and Mary.

Edith Perle lived life to the fullest while focusing on her family and friends. She was employed as a secretary at First Baptist Church Garland, Renner Research Center in Richardson and the Richardson Independent School District. She retired from the school district in 1983 as the secretary to the RISD Athletic Director.

Edith Perle was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 47 years Neal Gene Johnson, daughter Bettie Jeannine Johnson Owens, brother Howard Crawford Simpson, and grandson Jerry Neal Roberge. She is survived by daughter, Mary J. Reedy and husband David L Reedy, sister, Mary Clydene Miles, eight grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

The family is eternally grateful for the loving care Edith Perle received at Appletree Courts and Weismer House. A funeral service will be held at on Friday, September 11, 2015 at 2:30 pm at Sparkman Funeral Home on S. Greenville in Richardson, with interment to follow at Restland Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the James and Irene Landis Scholarship Fund at First Baptist Church Richardson (1001 N Central Expr, Richardson, TX 75080) or to a charity of your choice.
