

Father Eduardo P. Fernandez, a retired priest of the Diocese of Dallas for 22 years, died July 6, 2012. He was ordained for the Dioceses of Dallas on April 18, 1970. He was a native of Cuba, born on June 29, 1933 to Eduardo and Maria Fernandez. Fr. Fernandez studied briefly in Cuba, Spain, and Rome. Before moving to Dallas, where he completed Seminary, he lived briefly in New York. Fr. Fernandez served as an Assistant Pastor of St. John, Ennis; St. Paul the Apostle, Richardson; Immaculate Conception, Grand Prairie; and Good Sheppard, Garland. He served as Pastor of St. Phillips, Dallas and St. Paul the Apostle, Richardson. Fr. Fernandez retired from active ministry in 1992, due to health reasons. Fr. Fernandez is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Jorge. Friends and parishioners may pay their respects on Sunday, July 8, 2012, from 2:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. and Monday, July 9, 2012, from, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Sparkman Funeral Home - Richardson. Visitation will continue at 5:30 p.m., Monday followed by a Vigil Service at 7:00 pm, at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 720 S. Floyd Rd. Richardson, TX 75080. The Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 10, 2012, at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church. Most Reverend Kevin J. Farrell, D.D. Bishop of Dallas, Principal Celebrant- Rev. Msgr. Glenn D. “Duffy” Gardner, Homilist and brother priests of the Diocese Concelebrants. After the Mass, a reception will follow at the Parish Center, 900 St. Paul Drive Richardson, 75080. Entombment will follow in the Calvary Hill Mausoleum.
