Eileen Ann Larsen was born 26 November 1937 in Dilworth, Minnesota and passed away 19 June 2022 in Richardson, Texas. She was the first in her family to attend college, graduating from Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota in 1959 with a degree in sociology and a teaching certificate. She married Luther Larsen that summer and they embarked on a 48-year adventure together. They moved frequently in the early years, living in several states before settling in Richardson in 1968. Eileen was a loving mother to six children and worked as a substitute teacher, crossing guard, and youth & family counselor.
Eileen was a longtime member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church, where she was active in the women's group, held several leadership positions, and was blessed with enduring friendships. She loved learning and was never without a book to read or a craft project to tackle. Among her favorite journeys were a summer exploring Alaska by RV with Luther, church group tours of Scandinavia and Greece, visits with her daughter in Europe and the Middle East, and most of all the family reunions with loved ones gathered for hikes, games, and reminiscence. In recent years, she was content tending to her garden, walking in the park, and watching birds from the rocking chair on her back porch.
Eileen is survived by her children Brent (Cheryl), Kirk, Erica (Patrick McCurry), and Jeremy (Barbara), thirteen grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. She is reunited with her husband Luther, sons Craig and Reid, parents Gustave and Clara, siblings Gordon, Howard, Kathleen, and Don, and several beloved friends.
Funeral services will be held at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Richardson on Saturday 25 June 2022 at 2 pm. Eileen will be laid to rest with Luther at the DFW National Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Capital Campaign at St. Luke's Lutheran Church.
