I met Elbert and Mary Ann Highnote at Autumn Leaves. Elbert was already pretty ill. Mary Ann had her good days and not so good days. Mary talked about the large home, about baking cookies and gathering for meals. She appeared not to like cleaning up but doing it anyway. She was a handsome lady and tall by my standards. She was kind. She was brave.

Elbert I came to know later on. He was very quiet. He had a stoic-like appearance about him. I did see him reach out for her - to lay his hand on her arm. The most tender gesture ever.

They were a handsome couple to the end. I'm so happy to have met each of them. They are together in the best place of all. God bless them and their family.
