Faye Giles Thompson passed away on January 11, 2021 in Oklahoma City, OK at age 93 as a result of complication of COVID-19. Faye was born in Milford, TX to Roger and Enda Giles and became part of a loving family of two brothers and three sisters. She was in the Midlothian High School Class of 1945 and after graduation she worked in banking in downtown Dallas. Faye later went into direct sales where she enjoyed a very successful career.

While in banking, Faye met R.V. Thompson in 1947. They were married in 1949 and remained together for 59 years until R.V’s passing in 2008.

Faye dedicated a great deal of time and energy to Smile Stitchers, an outreach ministry, creating countless finger puppets for the patients of Children’s Medical Center of Dallas. Another passion was her love of family and genealogy leading her to publish a family cookbook in 1983 and in 2016, published “The Giles Family, Our Ancestors & Descendants” recording the family geneaology from 1598 to 2015.

She has been a member of the First Baptist Church of Richardson, TX since 1949, and loved the history of the church working diligently to preserve it for future generations.

Faye is survived by her son, Richard V. “Dick” Thompson, Jr and wife, Shawn of Oklahoma City, OK. As well as her sister, Lila Wilson of Waxahachie, TX. And many nieces, nephews and friends that she loved dearly.

The family would like to thank her dedicated caregiver, Mary Sanchez, for unwavering support over the past three years. Additionally, the loving and caring nurses at Integris Baptist Medical Center 6 East. Such incredible skills and compassion that impact lives of patients and family members alike.

Additionally, our family’s gratitude to Dr. Rejoy Kurien and Dr. Sarosh Khan, hospitalist at Integris Baptist for their tireless dedication to Faye’s care and wellbeing.

Mrs. Thompson holds a special place in my heart. While I was in grade school, she and Mr. Thompson would invite me and my siblings to First Baptist Church of Richardson on Sundays. They made many invitations to pick us up to go. When I accepted Jesus as my Lord & Savior at the age of 17, she was there on my special day of baptism. She was there to celebrate my conversion when my family could not attend. I appreciate her so much for being there for me. I really felt love from her.
She had always made it known that she wanted all of us Trans to be saved. I believe God answered her prayers for us to have a personal relationship with Father God through the salvation of Jesus.
She was full of energy and was a warm hearted person. She holds a special place in our family. The entire Tran clan miss her dearly. We look forward to seeing her again in heaven and give her a big hug! On that day, we all will be one in Jesus Christ and will all praise God Holy Name! Thank you Mrs. Thompson for your impact on my life. I know that you are home and very happy to be embraced by Jesus welcoming you into heaven!

This is to express sadness and appreciation for a very dear lady, loved by many in First Baptist Richardson. She was an example as a true Christian lady to us all.
