Gerald P. (Jerry) Estes

Funeral services for Gerald Paul (Jerry) Estes, age 77, of Garland will be conducted at 12:00 noon on Thursday, March 3, 2011 at Sparkman Funeral Home in Richardson. Interment will follow at Dallas/Ft. Worth National Cemetery with Danny Estes, Herb Barnard, Gregory Estes, Ronnie Estes, Burke Hedgecoth and Jim Marcom serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at Sparkman Funeral Home in Richardson. Mr. Estes passed away Sunday, February 27, 2011 at his residence. Mr. Estes was born on October 22, 1933 in Holdenville, OK, the son of Walter Paul and Syble E. (Bacon) Estes. He married Carol Hedgecoth on March 11, 1995 in Garland, TX. She survives. Mr. Estes served as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. ARMY for two years. He also loved playing golf, painting, and spending time with family. In 1969, he began working for Raucher Pierce Brokerage Company in Dallas, TX and worked there for 8 years. Starting in the late 1970's he owned and operated several restaurant businesses, and later retired in April of 2010. In addition to his wife, he is also survived by sons, Ronald Estes and wife Ann of Valley View, TX, and Gregory Estes and wife Hetty of Flower Mound, TX, daughter, Tracey Estes of Carrollton, TX, step-sons, Todd Hedgecoth and wife Becky of Greenville, TX, and Burke Hedgecoth and wife Marsha of Cumming, GA, step-daughters, Kim Marcom and husband Jim (Tinker) of Sachse, TX and Lisa Bryant and husband Greg of Powell, OH, grandchildren, Stephen Lindsey, Amanda Baptiste, and Brandy Dawson all of Valley View, TX, Brittany, Daniel, and Kayley Estes all of Flower Mound, TX, Samantha and Trey Carter of Greenville, TX, Ethan Marcom of Sachse, TX, Kelly Bryant of Powell, OH, and Nicole Hedgecoth of Cumming, GA, seven great-grandchildren, sister-in-law, Janice Estes of Richardson, sister, Vista Jean Elliott and husband Cliff of Graham, TX, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, James Albert Estes.
