Glenn Matthew Stanberry

Glenn Matthew Stanberry, 71, of Dallas, Texas, passed away on Saturday, April 16, 2022. He was born on October 17, 1950, in McAllen, Texas to the late Clarence Jennings “C.J.” & Rowena (Boyd) Stanberry. Glenn was raised in Lafayette, Louisiana and was a 1968 graduate of Abilene Cooper High School. He went on to earn a degree from McMurry University, where he was a proud member of both the band and Ko Sari Fraternity.

Following college, Glenn worked as a student recruiter for McMurray University. He went on to spend his career as an insurance claims adjuster, working for a time in Waco, Wichita Falls, and Austin, before retiring in 2019 from Sedgwick Claims Management Services in Dallas.

Glenn truly enjoyed life. In his younger years, he enjoyed golfing with friends and traveling. He had a larger than life personality, enjoyed making people laugh and made the most out of every situation by having fun. Glenn was a devoted father and grandfather. His grandchildren were his priority and would drop everything to spend time with them and attend their activities. Glenn will be remembered for his gregarious nature, boisterous laugh, and love for life. He will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.

In addition to his parents, Glenn was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Wright; and brother, Jack Stanberry. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Kristi & John Underwood of Hico, Texas; three grandchildren, Stacey Underwood of Denton, TX, Ashlyn Underwood of Forest Grove, Oregon, and Brant Underwood of Hico, TX; sisters, Janet Miller and Sue Prosen, both of Houston; and numerous cherished nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, April 26, 2022 at 2pm in Sparkman Funeral Home, Richardson, Texas. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Ko Sari Endowed Scholarship, c/o McMurry University, 1400 Sayles Blvd., Abilene, TX 79617.
