Gloria Jean Hockersmith

Gloria was born on August 10, 1942 in San Antonio, Texas to Rex and Odessa Carlile. She is survived by her loving husband, Tommy of 54 years, daughter and son-in-law, Tamara and Terry, son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Laura, four wonderful grandchildren, Lindsay, Cameron, Chloe, and Garrett, two sisters, Sandra and Cathy and many loved nieces and nephews.

Gloria spent her childhood years with her parents in San Antonio, Austin, Lampasas, San Diego and Tyler before graduating from Robert E. Lee High School in Tyler, Texas. She moved with her parents to Fort Worth where she met Tommy Hockersmith. They became engaged to be married in the spring of 1962 and married on August 11, 1962 in Fort Worth. They began their married life in Garland, Texas. Gloria chose to be a stay-at-home mom for her children and devoted her life to raising them in a Christian home. Later, she gave her love and attention to her four grandchildren, encouraging them to follow those same Christian values.

At an early age, Gloria chose to become a part of God's great kingdom on earth and has lived her life to be a blessing to God, Christ, and her family. As a result of her great devotion to God, she has left her family with tremendous joy in their hearts even though her passing brings natural sorrow.

Visitation for Gloria will be held on Sunday, October 30, 2016 from 6-8 p.m. at Sparkman Funeral Home - Richardson. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. in the Sparkman Funeral Home - Richardson chapel.
