We are sad to announce the passing of Glynita Lacey in Bryan, Texas at the age of 92, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimers. She is survived by her sister Billie Morris, her son Michael Lacey and his wife Michele Lacey, her granddaughter Kristi Miller and her husband Max Miller, her three great-granddaughters Kacee Miller, Maegan Miller and Olivia Miller and many nieces and nephews and extended family.
Glynita was born on June 30, 1931 in Whitewright, Texas to Oland Bush and Annie Madge Bush. She graduated from Anna High School in Anna, Texas in 1949. After her graduation she worked for the Cullum and Boren sporting goods store and for a movie establishment where she was thrilled to meet the famous movie star John Wayne. She eventually secured a position at Texas Instruments, Richardson, Texas in the credit department for many years before retiring in the 1990’s.
Raised in the Nazarene Church, Glynita was a devout Christian and a long-time member of the Nazarene Church of Richardson, Texas. In the years before her illness, she enjoyed music and singing with her family, reading, bowling, gardening, playing bridge, crossword puzzles, learning to play golf and watching MLB baseball games. She enjoyed her Bible study classes and assisting with church activities. She also volunteered at the Richardson Medical Center as an aide. A strong independent woman, she adored spending time with all her family members and often instigated get-togethers and celebrations for birthdays and various holidays.
Glynita was preceded in death by her parents and eight of her nine siblings; her infant brother Odell Bush, her brother Leon Bush, her sisters Elsie Ideker, Wyona Burris, Leona Rickman, Nelda Mullin, Reba Robison and Peggy Bush. She was also preceded in death by several nieces and nephews.
She will be greatly missed by those of us left behind, but we rejoice in her reunion with those that went before her. We will remember her in our hearts for all the times we laughed, loved, and cried together and we are glad that she is free from her pain and confusion. We know she is at peace in the arms of Jesus.
We appreciate the care she received from the staff at Broadmoor Assisted living, Sodalis Memory Care, The Bryan Manor and the extra support and resources from Hospice Brazos Valley.
