Gregorio Villanueva Lorenzo

Born in Matatalaib, Tarlac City, Tarlac, Philippines, and educated at the University of the East in Manila, Gregorio earned an honest living working with the Pepsi-Cola Company of the Philippines in San Fernando, Uniroyal Merchandising Company in Houston, Texas, and as a Financial Accountant at The Methodist Hospital in Houston, where he ultimately retired.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Gregorio’s greatest legacy lives on through his family. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Helen Cuchapin Lorenzo (1935–2021), and his cherished grandson, Zachary Paul Lorenzo Zayco (d. 2014). He is survived by his loving daughter, Elaine Lorenzo Zayco, and her husband, Andre Carlo Casiple Zayco; and his adored granddaughters, Zoe Marie Lorenzo Zayco, Zenia Amelia Lorenzo Zayco, and Zuri Rose Lorenzo Zayco. He instilled in them the values of resilience, devotion, and kindness, and his guidance will continue to light their path.

Gregorio was a true creature of habit who found his greatest joy at home. Content in his own peaceful routine, he was happiest kicking back in his recliner, turning on the TV, and watching a good game. An enthusiastic sports fan, who proudly cheered on the Houston Rockets and Houston Texans, and held a special place in his heart for his favorite team, the Houston Astros.

To celebrate his enduring spirit and joyful fandom, the family warmly requests that guests attending the service wear Houston Astros team colors—navy blue, orange, and/or white attire.

An open house reception will be held at the Zayco residence beginning at 5:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks to consider making a donation to the Gentiva Foundation in honor of Gregorio Lorenzo.
