Guy Dylan Markham Delaney “Guy”, 16, of Dallas, TX, tragically passed away in an automobile accident on March 8th, 2018. He was born in Dallas on November 27th, 2001, the loving son of Neil and Shawn Delaney and was the older brother of William. He was a sophomore at Jesuit College Preparatory School, and previously attended All Saints Catholic School, graduating in May 2016. Guy was confirmed in the Catholic Church this same year.
Guy was a midfielder on the Jesuit Junior Varsity Soccer Team and also played for Highland Park Soccer Academy. He was a gifted and composed player, a play-maker with a particular knack for making the right pass at the right time, and an eye for the goal. Soccer was one of his great loves and he was an avid Manchester United fan, supporting them since the age of three! Guy was never happier than when he was spending time with his family. He had close bonds with his parents, brother, grandparents, and uncles, always enjoying family occasions and was rapidly becoming the table tennis player to beat at family tournaments!
He had a wide circle of friends and was respected and looked up to for his kind, friendly, fun, nurturing personality. Guy excelled at school, was proud of his academic achievements, but was always humble and took great joy in helping others. He will be remembered as a quiet yet effective leader.
Guy is survived by his parents, Neil and Shawn of Dallas, TX and his brother, William. He also leaves behind grandparents, Brian and Reta Markham of Dallas, TX, and Liam and Marie Delaney of Lancashire, England. He is further survived by four uncles, two aunts, and five cousins: Christian and Jenny Delaney of Kent, England; Kevin Delaney of Lancashire, England; Keith Markham, Caroline Markham, and their children Cameron, Luke, Jake, Max and Elizabeth Markham, all of Salado, TX; and Brad Markham of Dallas, TX.
A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, March 17th, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. at All Saints Catholic Church, 5231 Meadowcreek Drive, Dallas, Texas, 75248. Prior to the service, the family will offer visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m. Immediately following the funeral mass, all are invited to greet the family at a reception in the Fellowship Hall.
