She is preceded in death by her parents, Everett and Minnie Miller, and brother, Teatle Miller. Jo is survived by her husband David Lawrence, her son and daughter-in-law, Rodney Gruber and Melissa Barfield, sister, Betty Miller, niece, Sheli Miller, and nephew, Bryan Miller.
Jo was born and raised in Ohio and started her 20+ year career at the headquarters of NCR (National Cash Register) in Dayton, OH. Career advancement moved her to South Carolina, Georgia, and lastly Texas where she met her husband David in Dallas. They were married on the beach in Wailea, Hawaii and just celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary on October 8th.
She resided in Dallas for over 30 years and was a member of Preston Hollow Presbyterian church where she was a Stephen Minister and participated in the Women’s Bible study and book clubs. She was also engaged in other Women’s organizations including The Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary and the Bent Trail Presbyterian church book club.
Jo was an avid reader, enjoyed trying new restaurants, and loved to travel, with Maui, Hawaii and Positano, Italy being two of her favorite destinations.
Her elegance, beautiful smile, sense of humor, and loving caring demeanor will truly be missed.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, November 11th at 3pm at Preston Hollow Presbyterian Church with Rev. Nicole Bates as officiant and Rev. Mark Brainerd assisting.
