Jonathan Paul Coons, affectionately known as Jonny, passed away on July 30, 2025, at the age of 36. Born August 30, 1988, in Dallas, Texas, to Linda Wearden Coons and Bill Coons, Jonny grew up in the Canyon Creek neighborhood of Richardson, Texas, alongside his mother and brother, Rhodes Coons. His childhood overflowed with joy-skating with friends, cheering for heroes like Dirk Nowitzki and Nolan Ryan, playing sports, and cherishing visits with his beloved Memaw and Papa. Known for his easygoing nature, kind heart, and radiant smile, Jonny could light up any room. A 2006 graduate of J.J. Pearce High School, Jonny was a gifted musician, mastering the drums, piano, and euphonium in the school band. His passion for music carried into adulthood, joined by a love for science, computers, and gadgets. After earning a degree and certifications in computer software, networking, and electrical engineering from college, Jonny worked in customer service but truly thrived in his hobbies. A natural engineer, he loved working on cars, designing, and tinkering-taking things apart and rebuilding them with care. Jonny leaves behind a legacy of warmth and joy in the hearts of his mother, Linda Wearden Coons; his brother, Rhodes Coons; and his aunts, uncles, and cousins. Though gone too soon, his memory will live on forever in the hearts of those who loved him. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Sparkman Funeral Home, 1029 South Greenville Ave., Richardson, TX. In lieu of flowers, donations are welcomed to NAMI (nami.org) or Metrocare Services (metrocareservices.org).
