Joseph Harry Proctor
April 3, 1925 – May 11, 2020
Joseph H. Proctor of Chester County
Joseph Harry Proctor of Dallas, TX, formerly of Chester County, PA died on the 11th of May, 2020, at his daughter Debbie’s residence in Dallas.
Born in 1925 in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Joseph Francis Proctor and Clara Mather Proctor. He was married to the late Laura Mae Bossert Proctor for 70 years. They met at a Penn/Drexel mixer in 1946 and were inseparable thereafter. He grew up in Southwest Philadelphia, and was a proud John Bartram HS, and Drexel University graduate.
As a boy he was an expert model airplane builder and flier at Belmont Plateau in Philadelphia. He had a lifetime interest in aviation.
He was a member of the ‘greatest generation’, and served in the ETO in WWII. Flat feet and myopia did not deter his service!
A member of the Lukens Steel alumni, he lived in Malvern, PA; Atlanta, GA; Wilmington, DE … wherever work took him. He and his wife started Technical Associates, and ran the company for many years. A crafty tennis player, he was a killer at the net in doubles, and played into his eighties. He loved travel and their vacations at Sanibel – never said no to a glass of vino at cocktail hour.
He is survived by three sons: David (Mary T. Holleran) of Downingtown, PA, Steven (Margo Bare) of Kailua, HI, Mark (Cindy) of Marietta, GA, and daughter Deborah Popielarczyk (John) of Dallas, TX; son-in-law Allen Walker of McDonough, GA; sister Betty Tomlinson of Woodbury, NJ; grandchildren Katy, Megan, Elizabeth and Laura; and great grandchildren Alex, Ben, Isla, Charlotte and Elijah. He was predeceased by his wife and daughter Lisa Walker.
Though he was never able to explain how as parents they survived having five in five years, he was immensely proud of his children. Now he will be with his beloved again.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family, subject to the epidemic. Interment will be private. The epidemic has impacted many nonprofits. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to one that would benefit.
