Kenneth Lloyd St. Clair, 89, of Richardson, TX, passed away on Saturday, August 30, 2025. He was born on August 5, 1936, in Chicago, IL to Edward L. St. Clair and Berniece E. (Farmer) St. Clair. He was an only child and spent a lot of time with his grandparents, Ella “Maw” and John “Pop” Farmer, while his parents worked.
Ken graduated from Canton High School in 1954 and then joined the Air Force. He worked in ground radio maintenance from 1954-1958 and was stationed in Alaska for most of his service. In 1959, he married the love of his life, Helen E. (Hedden) St. Clair, in Canton, IL. Shortly thereafter, they moved to Valparaiso, IN, so Ken could attend Valparaiso Technical Institute, where he studied electronics and graduated in 1962. Using the skills he acquired in the Air Force, Ken accepted a job with Collins Radio in 1964. He took a big chance and moved his family to Richardson, TX, where he resided until his passing. Ken became a Senior Technical Writer at Collins Radio, which later became Rockwell International, and retired in 1999 after 32 years.
Ken was an excellent provider for his family and was known for his great sense of humor and passion for eating pie. Ken loved to use his hands to fix and build things both for the house and his wife’s interior design business. He was a master with words and especially loved a good pun. He also enjoyed traveling with his wife to England, Scotland and Spain, but their favorite was a memorable trip to Luxembourg.
Ken valued his relationships with family and friends, and after he retired, he enjoyed spending time with several groups of friends; especially, the “Men’s Lunch Bunch.” He was also a member of the Rockwell Collins Retirees’ group and would meet them periodically to eat and reminisce. In 2024, he traveled back to his hometown of Canton, Illinois to attend his 70th High School Reunion, and said that “everybody had gotten old, but him.” He had a great time and made many lasting memories while he was there, catching up with old friends and relatives.
Ken was predeceased by his wife of 64 years, Helen. He is survived by three children: daughter, Debbie DeBruin of Richardson, TX; son, Mike St. Clair and wife, Mona of Mesquite, TX; daughter, Janet Campbell and husband, Randy of Mt. Juliet, TN; four grandchildren, to whom he was “Grampy”: Michelle Campbell of Clermont, FL, Lindsey and Taylor DeBruin of Richardson, TX, and Christopher Campbell and wife, Kim of Garland, TX; and a lifetime of friends.
Ken will be greatly missed in the days ahead, but his spirit and memories will live on within each of us who were privileged to have him in our lives.
Celebration of Life will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, September 6, 2025, at Sparkman Funeral Home, 1029 South Greenville Avenue, Richardson, TX. A committal service will be held later at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, TX.
