Like Pat Baker, I was a journalism student at SMU in the '50s. I took the advertising sequence, so had a lot of classes taught by Mr. Reese. Since graduation, I've always worked on the editorial side, but appreciate what Mr. Reese taught me. He truly was a very fine gentleman.

Jimmie, I was so sorry to learn of Martin's death. I knew him only through the Lion's Club and was fascinated to read of his military and other accomplishments. I remember him as a warm, caring, and decent human being -- the salt of the earth. Cullen and Dolores Rogers

Cheryl and I have fond memories of Mr.Reese. We knew him thru didn't avenues, but both knew him as a kind, considerate person, who no matter what the problem was, calmly helped you work thru it. He contributed a great deal to SMU, and to the education and development of many young people, in addition to the two of us. Everytime I walk by the south side of Clements Hall, I glance down at that the steps that led to the Print Shop in the basement, and fondly think about Mr. Reese, James Shleton, and the Print Shop crew. I know I tested their patience numerous times with missed deadlines, corrections on a blueline, changed specs at the last minute. But I always knew that they would do a fine job, and that they took great pride in everything they did.

We know Uncle Reese is rejoicing in Heaven. He had a long, wonderful and blessed life. He was a great inspiration to his family and most of all, to the love of his life, Aunt Jimmie.  He was an honorable man that was admired by all who had the privilage to know him. Thank you Uncle Reese for your kindness and for the person that you were.

In the 1950's I not only had the privilege of being a student in Martin's journalism classes at S.M.U., but I also had the privilege of serving with him for three years on the Board of Directors of the S.M.U. Student's Publishing Corporation.  He was one of the finest, most gentlemanly persons I have ever known.  Everyone who knew Martin loved him, and he will be very much missed.

My deepest sympathy goes out to the Reese family at this time of sorrow. Mr. Reese, as we called him when he taught me classes related to publilshing in the Journalism Dept. at SMU back in the Fabulous Fifties, was a fine gentleman, a good teacher and was genuinely interested in helping his students achieve their career goals.  It was because of him that I spent several years in New York in adveritising preparing myself for a successful career later in Dallas where I operated my own advertising agency for many years before retiring.  It's always difficult to say goodbye, but we all have our memories with us for a lifetime.  May God bless this family.

Martin Reese was one of the finest people that I have ever known.  

He was a professional in all that he did.  He served SMU well, was a 33rd Degree Mason, and above all, an outstanding Lion and Past District Governor of Lions District 2-X1.
