Mary Janie J Cleveland

Janie was born in Dallas, Texas on October 7, 1914 to Chester W. Cleveland of Dallas, Texas and Kate Wise of Waxahachie, TX. She spent her childhood in Dallas graduating from Adamson High School. She went on to attend Mary Hardin Baylor College for one year prior to beginning a 41 year career as an Administrative Secretary for The Prudential Insurance Company. She was a lifelong member of Cliff Temple Baptist Church where she was a dedicated member of the choir for over 40 years.

Janie loved to bowl, and continued to bowl twice a week until her 89th birthday. She also was an avid traveler, making trips to Canada and Europe well into her 80’s.

Janie is survived by her niece, Betty Eckeberger of Richardson, TX; her nephew Robert Cleveland of Boston, MA; and a multitude of great nieces, great nephews, and dear friends.

Those who knew her will miss her great smile and her gentle nature. And we look forward to seeing her again!

A visitation for friends and family will be held on Friday, January 21 at Sparkman Funeral Home from 4:00 - 6:00 pm. Funeral Service for Ms. Cleveland will be held at Sparkman Funeral Home on Saturday, January 22 at 2:00pm followed by burial at Restland Memorial Park.
