Mary was born on September 6, 1932 in Denison, TX to her parents, James Bernard and Mary Grace O’Brien Murphy. She married Howard Scott Wilson in 1951.
Mary loved all things Irish. Saint Patrick’s Day was always fully celebrated. Rarely did she miss the Greenville Avenue Saint Patrick’s Day parade and once was interviewed by a local news channel. Her love for Saint Patrick’s Day was followed closely by her love for April Fools Day. Mary never missed the opportunity to laugh, even if it was at her own expense.
Mary’s close friendships brought her great joy. Housekeeping could wait if there was bridge to be played, sorority meetings to attend or an invitation to lunch. Mary’s reunion with her husband Howard was long awaited. Her love for her sons, Pat, Mike and Scott was unconditional and is everlasting. Mary’s granddaughters, Dani, Kaitlin and Taylor were her bonus blessings in life.
Mary is survived by her son Scott Wilson of Dallas; her son, Michael Wilson and his wife Bonnie of Dundee OR; and daughter-in-law, Sue Wilson of Corona, CA. Mary is also survived by her three grandchildren, Dani Wilson, Kaitlin Wilson and Taylor Wilson. Her husband, Howard; her brother, George; and her son Pat preceded her in death.
A rosary service will take place on Friday, December 12th at 7:00 p.m. at Sparkman Richardson Funeral Home with visitation to follow. A memorial mass will take place on Saturday, December 13th at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Paul the Apostle Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, to honor Mary’s 24 years as a liver transplant survivor, the family requests gifts to the Baylor Health Care System Foundation – Liver Transplant Services, 3600 Gaston Avenue, Suite 100 Dallas, TX 75246 (www.give.baylorhealth.com).
