Doris Maxine Wallis, 94, of Dallas, TX, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on June 4, 2026. She was born in Madison County, TN, on December 10, 1931, to William G. and Clydia Terry Lovell.
She moved to Dallas in 1957, where, in November 1986, she was married to the love of her life, Gerald Wallis. They lived in Texas, Michigan, Utah, and then back to Texas, where they lived the remainder of their lives.
At eleven years of age, she accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior and would love him from that time forward. God gave her another precious gift in addition to eternal life with Him. He gave her an unending love for His Word. A great joy was studying that Word at Sunday School, Church Sermons, Bible Study, Fellowship, Criswell Bible Institute (before it became a college), Precept Ministries, and in great books, etc.
Maxine and Gerald were members of First Baptist Church Dallas for over 40 years, learning so much, making many great friends, holding membership in the Builders' Class, and participating in many ministries in FBC. This included teaching Sunday School, serving on missions committees, participating in Evangelism Explosion, volunteering at the Pregnancy Center, and joining Stephen Ministry, to name a few. Later, when they moved to Lewisville, they attended First Baptist Church at the Fields, Carrollton, Texas, and loved it.
After their children were grown, Maxine and Gerald enjoyed traveling, visiting all 50 states, Nigeria, Ecuador, England, Scotland, Wales, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Mexico, and many of the provinces of Canada, a country much loved by them.
Maxine and Gerald were blessed with a wonderful family, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. All of them were so treasured, loved, and prayed for by them.
In addition to her parents and ten siblings, Maxine was preceded in death by her beloved husband Gerald, precious son-in-law Patrick Winfield, and grandson Pat Winfield Jr. She is survived by her beloved children; Trish Davis (Jerry), Sue Winfield, Jerilyn Smith (James), Ken Wallis (Holly), and Becky Wallis (Tim); 13 grandchildren, and 22 great-grandchildren.
She loved life, and especially her family. Maxine was happiest when in the company of any and all of her family.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Sparkman Funeral Home, 1029 S. Greenville Ave, Richardson, TX 75081, on Thursday, June 18th, 2026, at 1:00 PM.
Psalm 16:6 "The Lines are fallen to me in pleasant places; yea, I have a goodly heritage."
