

Melissa Kaye Lykins of Dallas, Texas unexpectedly, but peacefully, passed away on October 4, 2021. She was blessed to have been surrounded by her loving daughters and family in her final days and moments.
Melissa was born in Paris, Texas on August 26, 1966. Melissa graduated from Paris High School in 1984 and also attended Paris Junior College.
Melissa was a legal assistant for the national law firm of Husch Blackwell in their Dallas offices and with whom she had worked the majority of her career. She especially valued her boss, friends and colleagues and all of the support provided over their many years together.
Melissa had been previously married to Gary Lykins in February of 2000. Melissa and Gary were blessed with their first daughter, Brenna, in 2003 and their second daughter, Kaylee, in 2004. Melissa was an extremely devoted, very active and involved mother with her daughters, attending and actively participating in all school and extra-curricular events.
Melissa was very active and involved as a volunteer for the Dallas Animal Services fostering program. She loved and cherished helping rescue dogs in need of a loving family and instilled that passion in her daughters, who enjoy the same. Melissa was especially fond of her rescued dogs: Max, Scout and Murphy. She also enjoyed her visits with Rookie.
Melissa loved life and was a very engaging and outgoing individual. Above all, Melissa loved her daughters and was involved in their lives every step of the way. Most recently, Melissa
was involved in the University of Arkansas Parent Partnership Association. She was also involved with and participated in the local parent organizations for her daughters throughout their elementary and secondary education pursuits, including the Richardson High School and Lake Highlands High School. She was proud to be the mother of a freshman Razorback and a Lake Highlands High School junior.
Melissa was preceded in death by her mother, Judy Virginia (Sherwood) Partridge and her father, Billy Don Partridge.
Melissa is survived by her daughters, Brenna and Kaylee Lykins of Dallas, Texas. She is also survived by her brother, Greg Partridge of Fort Worth, Texas, her uncle Don Wogberg of Paris, Texas and her nephew Zach Partridge of Mineral Wells, Texas. She is also survived by her cousin Tonya Jacobsen of Frisco, Texas on her mother’s side of the family and numerous other cousins on her father’s side of the family.

Friends and family of Melissa Lykins are cordially invited to attend a celebration of Melissa’s life at 2 p.m. the afternoon of Sunday, October 24, 2021 at Sparkman Funeral Home, 1029 S. Greenville, Avenue, Richardson, Texas 75081. To honor Melissa’s fun-loving and bright personality, Melissa’s family requests that attendees, if desired, come wearing bright and cheerful colors.
