Services for Michael Dean Hallett, 67, of Carrollton, will be 11:00 am Friday, February 8, 2013 at Sparkman Funeral Home Chapel, 1029 South Greenville Avenue, Richardson, TX. The family will receive friends for visitation Thursday, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. Mr. Hallett passed away Friday February 1, 2013 in Carrollton.
Michael was born August 23, 1945 in Kansas City, MO to Harvey Russell Hallett and Florence Elieen Lesh Hallett. He grew up and attended school in Kansas City. He received his Bachelor of Science from the University of Missouri in Rolla and a Masters in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University where he was a member of Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honor Society and remained so throughout his life.
Michael joined the United States Army on October 5, 1967 and served two tours of duty in Vietnam. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Bronze Star Medal, Army Commendation Medal and Two Overseas Service Bars. He was Honorably Discharged October 1, 1970.
Michael wed Chan Thi Luu September 1, 1978 in Kansas City. He moved to the Dallas area in 1980 and was employed at Black and Veatch, Forney, and finally Shermco during which time he did extensive international traveling and work abroad.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife Chan Hallett of Carrollton, step-daughter Thuc Luu of Euless, step-son Quang Nguyen of Carrollton, step-daughter Huyen Nguyen Carrollton, seven step-grandchildren and two sisters, Deborah Ashley of Rayville, MO and Susan D. Barnes of Batavia, Il.
