On Monday, February 15, 2021, Nathan Chau, loving brother and son, passed away at the age of 22.

Nathan was born on April 19, 1998 in Richardson, Texas. He was enrolled at the University of Texas at Dallas where he was studying Biomedical Engineering. Nathan was an energetic soul, in addition to being a proud and active member of the Omega Phi Gamma fraternity, he enjoyed fitness, cooking and could often be found with a fishing pole to go enjoy the great outdoors, surrounded by friends. Whether it be intensely calculating probabilities over a friendly game of poker, or show-casing his best martial arts moves in a brotherly brawl, Nathan was never one to go halfway on anything. He always lived life to the fullest in every sense of the word and strived to be a loyal friend, brother and mentor.

His friends and family will remember him for his smile, his ability to sleep through any alarm or phone call, and his pride in his cooking abilities.

Nathan is survived by his parents Van and Phuong as well as younger siblings Ethan and Crystal.

Nathan and I had celebrated our birthdays together for a few years, we experienced the thrill of music festivals together and watched each other prosper and grow throughout college. He was full of joy and kindness, a very modest and humble guy. He always had a great spirit, and I am so grateful for him being my friend. Time flies and life kept us at a distance, but every moment we hung out, we had the deepest and most inspirational conversations. He really did help me take life more lightly and he always made sure things were alright for everyone there, such a great guy he truly was. If I am being honest, I actually had a dream recently of Nathan last night, he had a really bright smile and it was a very positive dream. I am really grateful for that. I wish him peace and happiness, he is really blessed and loved. I am sending prayers and healing to him and his family.

I had the absolute pleasure of knowing Nathan through mutual friends, but he treated me the same way as he did his closest friends. Nathan had the most radiant smile and was constantly extending his kindness and sharing his fun energy with others. He was a naturally selfless, pure, and genuine soul and I will miss him dearly. My love and strength is with his family and loved ones; we are all hurting with you, and may his warm spirit guide you to happier times.

Words can't explain how genuinely amazing Nathan was. Though it was seldom, when we were together I always had a great time, making unforgettable memories. I'll miss you forever, brother.

He was someone I inspire to be more like, he never had a single negative thought or attitude against anyone and always put everyone first. I met him our freshman year of college and he was the one that always lead me to go out and meet people and socialize when he knew I felt uncomfortable. He always checked up on me making sure I was good throughout the highs and the lows. I am glad to share so many memories with him whether it was fishing or simply just being together pulling all night study sessions the night before an exam. To the man that made such an impact on so many lives, may you rest is peace.

I first met Nathan whenever I was in elementary school, we were apart of the same carpool. Even at a young age we used to have such deep and profound conversations. We loved to chat about things like honor, respect, and martial arts! Even though I was older than him, i always admired how he carried himself and kept a fighting spirit. It was something I tried to learn from him, I’ll always cherish everything our friendship taught me. We will meet again. Love you brother, i’ll always be proud of you. -DH

Dear Chau Family, I am so very sorry for your loss. After all that has happened in the world this past year and a half. To me, this is the worst! I watched your children grow up. Nathan and Ethen spent almost every day with Justin and Kevin. They developed a strong friendship and bond. Nathan was a very kind soul, always smiling and always making sure his hair was just right !! He brought so much to our life and we are honored to have been able to share so many years with him. We will always remember and love him, as we love you all - This should have never happened. I am still in shock and will be for a very long time.

His life was like a garland of beautiful deeds that graced the earth with beauty, color, and grace.

I first met Nathan in six grade in P.E. I asked for a drawing which he offered to do for me. He even brought me a Japanese soda. Nathan's was benevolent person as he kindly asked his father to lend me $2 so I can buy a ticket to see the avengers(2012). He was a great teammate on the soccer team, a JROTC member and we will never forget about our group tebowing. Thank you for all the memory KINGNATHAN. This one hurst a lot and It will be a while before I recover!
