Opal Mae (Hennig) Welk Hargrove, 81, from Rowlett TX, went home to be with the Lord on September 14, 2023. She was born at St. Paul Hospital in Dallas, TX on May 7, 1942, to her parents Joe and Evelyn Hennig.
Opal graduated from Rockwall High School in 1960. She was fortunate enough to find love more than once in her life; Opal married William Lonzo Welk on November 8, 1960, and they were married until William passed from cancer in 1995. Opal went on to marry Hollis Hargrove, who passed away from cancer in 2015. Opal started working for Texas Instruments in 1960 at the age of 18 and retired in 2001 at the age of 60. While working at TI, she took some college courses and also completed a Private Pilot Ground School Course. She had a passion for going fast! Opal had an adventurous and creative spirit – she loved Traveling, watching Nascar, Trail Riding, Painting, Dancing, and visiting Lighthouses.
Opal is preceded in death by her sister, Mary Evans; and brothers, Vic, Jimmy, Jody, and George Hennig. She is survived by her daughter, Jeanne, and husband Doug Quisenberry; daughter, Debbie, and husband Darrell Rose; grandchildren, Alicia Rider, Andrea Quisenberry, Danielle Rose, and Dean Rose; and sister, Nellie Miller.
The pallbearers will be sons-in-law, Doug Quisenberry and Darrell Rose; grandson, Dean Rose; honorary grandson, Josh Ritchie; nephews, Matt Miller, James Bardin and Trey Rayburn; and close friend, James Shortnacy.
