He was born in Niles, Ohio on April 27, 1945. After graduating from high school, Pat joined the United States Air Force and proudly served his country within the communications department during the Vietnam War in the late 1960’s.
Pat was creative, independent, and a driven entrepreneur. Over the course of his 40 plus year professional career, Pat founded and operated several successful businesses including a residential pool company and SnowMan’s Refrigeration.
He was married to Mary Louise Ludt on December 26, 1992. Together they enjoyed dancing to rock n’ roll oldies, attending musical theatre, traveling around the US, but most especially, spending time with their grandchildren.
Pat was a great Dad and “Papa”. He was fun, funny and always a source of joy and comfort to the youngest in his family. His daughters cherish memories of Sunday afternoons, set aside for mountain hikes and long car rides. But it was Dad’s sweet sense of humor that made even teenage friends feel welcome and at ease, and their home the place where everyone wanted to be. To his grandsons, he endeavored to pass along his industrious talents, often spending afternoons and weekends tinkering in the garage or co-designing the boys’ latest school project. His proud grandsons always said, “Papa can fix anything.”
Pat was also a man of great compassion, giving of his time, talents and treasure to anyone in need. His family and friends remember his unconditional willingness to lend a helping hand regardless of the cost to himself.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Louise Ludt, his daughters and their families: Jennifer & Nick, Hunter, Cooper and Zach Gilberti; Julie & Alex, Joshua, Charlize Isabella, Emily and Jake Sanchez; Priscilla and Simon Luna; and Abigail & Todd, Matthew, Jackson, Joshua, Lucas and Noah Williams; and his brother and family, Kimberly & Bob, Sean and Breann Ludt.
Services to celebrate Pat’s life will be held on Friday, July 7, 2017 at St. Monica Catholic Church, at 9933 Midway Road, Dallas, Texas 75220.
