Renee Khobragade

Renee Mary Khobragade, daughter of the late Varghese and Thankamma George was born November 10, 1978 in Manhattan, New York. God called her home on October 24, 2021. We are devastated at the loss of our dear friend, wife, sister, mother, and daughter, Renee Mary (George) Khobragade.

Renee was a firecracker to say the least. She grew up in the “mean streets” of Ardsley, New York. She loved those dear to her deeply. When you say “Ride or Die”, you think of Renee. She graduated from Ardsley High School after spending most of her High School years in a boarding school in India. Renee continued her college education and went on to complete her Masters in Education, despite the tragic and unexpected loss of her father, whom she adored.

Renee was a teacher and taught in some of the hardest and impoverished areas of NYC, South Florida, and Dallas, but still gave her all and loved her students. She kept complete order. Some of the kids were bigger than Renee and they still were so afraid of her. She would never let them get away with anything and as a result they never even thought about misbehaving. Renee would say to her peers, “Give me your worst kids, I’ll take them, you need a break!”

Renee was feisty, spirited, and had a lot of spunk. She was a true adventure seeker, and itinerary junkie. She loved traveling, camping, sky diving, biking, and swimming. She was fearless, never scared to try something new, and never wanted to waste a minute.

A friend led her to the Lord and her life was changed forever. In 2007 she followed her heart and moved to Miami, Florida. After settling down in her own home, Renee met the love of her life, Sandeep Khobragade on ChristianCafe.com. After a brief courtship they married on March 27, 2010. She loved deeply and cared even deeper. She loved her girls Selah and Zoe and her husband with a sacrificial love even until her last breath. This was only surpassed by her faith and love for Christ.

She fought a hard battle against breast cancer, putting her faith completely in God’s hands and was a remarkable testimony to all those near and dear to her. The Lord spoke to Sandeep and instructed them to move to the promised land… Texas. They took a complete leap of faith, sold their house, packed, and moved cross country to Texas. The blessing of being near family would be the greatest strength for her and her family. Renee moved into the home of her dreams and the role of her dreams, as Assistant Principal. Even though we mourn her death, we rejoice knowing we will meet our sister again. She is resting in the arms of the Savior.

Preceded by her father Varghese George, her life will be celebrated by her husband Sandeep Khobragade, daughters Selah and Zoe, mother Thankamma George, her devoted brothers Ron and Tony George, sister-in-law Sherry, and her nieces Lily and Victoria. Renee leaves to cherish her memory several aunts, uncles, cousins and countless friends. Renee will always be remembered for the way she touched the hearts and lives of everyone she knew.
