Richard (Dick) Michael McCallum, age 77 passed away at Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas TX on May 21, 2025. He was born in Dallas on September 17, 1947, at Florence Nightingale Hospital to Wilmer and Fayetta (Gage) McCallum.
He loved music and played guitar. His friendliness and quick wit enabled Dick to have successful careers selling cars, being a logistics manager and a commercial appraiser. While living in San Marcos, he cut limestone to make custom lamps, bookends, and coasters, traveled to Hill County trade days to sell his handmade goods and fossil rocks with his wife Karen and son Michael. Karen preceded him in death in May 2024. Dick moved back to Dallas in December 2024, and enjoyed being back with longtime friends and family, going to Keller’s, El Fenix & Whataburger. He is survived by son, Michael McCallum of Austin, TX., sister Nancy Sakowski & husband John, nephew Travis & wife Amanda Enberg, and great nephew Max.
Special thanks to Dallas EMS and their care team at Presbyterian Hospital.
A celebration of Dick’s life will be held at the home of Nancy & John Sakowski from 1-3 PM July 26, 2025.
