She met and married Bob Maier while working at Atlantic Richfield Company in Dallas where she was associate editor of their award-winning company magazine. He loved and served her with great care for over 51 years.
She was faithfully involved in Grace Bible Church and Bible Study Fellowship for many years, playing the piano “by ear” from her heart, ministering to thousands over the years.
She was an avid reader, interested in both history and current events but reading her Bible gave her the most peace. Psalm 16:11 was and still is her life verse. It would honor her if you read it quietly today.
She is survived by her husband, Bob Maier and her children: Joy Kupp and her husband, Carlton, Alice Jane Maier and her husband Michael Kirkpatrick, and Heidi Meredith and her husband, Mike. She is also survived grandchildren and great-grandchildren, including Samuel Kupp; Hayden Meredith and his wife, Emily; Luci Meredith Robinson, and her husband, Will; Trace Kirkpatrick, Ross Kirkpatrick, and Seth Kirkpatrick, and his wife Micah Jue. Her great grandchildren include: Henry Meredith, Luke Meredith, Jack Robinson, and Emerald Kirkpatrick. She is also survived by her loving sister, Joyce Ward of Ball Ground, Georgia, and her husband, Gilbert, and many nieces and nephews who loved her deeply.
The family gives deep appreciation for the care given by every person at T. Boone Pickens Palliative and Hospice Care Center for the help they provided the last weeks of her life. They served Ruth and her family with tenderness.
A celebration of life service will be held at the Grace Bible Church of Dallas on Friday, August 2 at 2:00 p.m.; visitation will be held 6-8 p.m. at Sparkman of Richardson Funeral Home on Greenville Avenue on Thursday, August 1. In lieu of flowers, the family wants you to know of Ruth’s love for many God-honoring organizations, including Grace Bible Church of Dallas, Hope for the Heart of Plano, and the Presbyterian Village North Foundation of Dallas.
