Sau Lan Tam went through primary school in China and completed high school there as well. She had a career in general contracting for many years and was an entrepreneur. Sau Lan was a passionate advocate for Chinese immigrants. She helped many receive their citizenship and helped many more start businesses and a livelihood for themselves. Sau Lan empathized with many of them, as she has had many businesses herself.
She had a passion for traveling, Mahjong, driving/road trips, and karaoke. She was strong, independent, caring, loving, and sacrificial.
Sau Lan is well-loved by her family and her friends who have become family. She is survived by two daughters Karmen Lau of Dallas, TX, and Jana Hauglie, husband Anton Hauglie of Dallas, TX, son, Garrett Lau, wife, Elizabeth Lau of South Bend, IN, and one grandchild, Atticus Lau, two brothers, four sisters, and numerous nieces and nephews. Sau Lan was predeceased by her eldest brother and both of her loving parents.
