She was an athlete during her school years. After she graduated high school she moved to the Dallas area and pursued a career in the beauty industry. She became a licensed Cosmetologist and was dubbed a, "Beauty Operator" by her beloved mother. Shirley has two sons. She loved them fiercely. She passed October 9th, 2017 in Garland, TX. She is survived by her eldest son Christopher Michael Herrera, youngest son Ricky Don Herrera, big sister and best friend Linda Rose Ortiz, little sister Sue Carol Mata, little brother Loring Lance Baker Jr, granddaughter Macie Nicole Deaton, and her beloved pet and full time companion Jojo Barnes aka Kitty Boo Boo.
