Theresa Nguyen, 75 of Richardson, TX, passed away on Thursday, November 29, 2018. She was born on December 1, 1942 in Vietnam to Thiet Quyong Le and Vui Thi Tran. Theresa Nguyen grew up in Kim Long, Hue and received her education at the Jean Dars French School. In her 20's, she worked in Phuoc Long Province as an administrative assistant where she met her husband, Tan Huy Nguyen, and together had 3 sons and 1 daughter. They moved to Saigon in 1970 and she worked as an English translator for the US Embassy.

Theresa, her family, and mother left Vietnam in 1975 and came to America before the Fall of Saigon. Her family was sponsored by the Benedictine Sisters Convent in Pittsburgh, PA. She and her husband had 2 more sons in the United States.

With the death of her husband in 1986, Theresa raised her 6 children all by herself by working tirelessly and diligently to ensure they were all well taken care of. She was a very devoted mother who loved her children and grandchildren selflessly because they were the purpose of her life. Theresa was also a very caring sister to her brothers and sisters who live in Vietnam.

She was raised in a strong, devout Catholic family. Her youngest brother, Father Quy Quang Le, is a Catholic priest in Quang Tri, Vietnam and her youngest sister, Mai Thi Le, is a Catholic nun. Theresa was also related to Father Nghia Ho Nguyen who used to serve at Mother of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Garland TX. She was a loving matriarch in the family and leaves behind a strong legacy for her children, grandchildren, family, and friends. Her unwavering Catholic faith taught her children to serve God with all their hearts, soul, and mind and be devoted to the Holy Blessed Mother Mary.

Theresa is survived by her 6 children, Joseph Tan of Atlanta, GA, Bonaventure Tan and wife Linh of Dallas, TX, Anton Tan and wife Takako of Ventura, CA, Mary Tran and husband Tuan of Atlanta, GA, John Tan and wife Courtney of Richmond, VA, David Tan and wife Sarah of Towson, MD; and 15 grandchildren, James, Jessica, Bryan, Brandon, Aysen, Sachi, Kiena, Kevin, Kayla, Katie, Kurtis, Isaac, Caleb, Maxwell, and Dylan.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Tan Huy Nguyen, and her mother, Vui Thi Tran.
