
February 20, 2019 in Dallas, TX. He was the son of the late Maurice M. and Fannie D. Goldberg of Baltimore. Vernon served as a bombardier on B-24 bombers in the Army Air Corps during World War II; after discharge he attended the University of Maryland, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering. He spent much of his career with the Bendix Corp in his hometown and was proud to direct their work for NASA’s Manned Space Flight Network. He later relocated to Dallas to join E-Systems, where he managed satellite communications programs and transitioned into the field of solar technology. He continued in this area by opening his own firm serving Sandia National Laboratories and other clients.
As an outdoorsman and athlete, he played softball and golf for many years, was a fisherman and an avid sailor. He particularly enjoyed the friendships forged on the race course of Rush Creek Yacht Club. In later years he turned to woodworking.
Vernon was preceded in death by his first wife, Bernice K. Goldberg, and his sister, Estelle G. Smith. He is survived by his wife, Judy, and his sons, John, of Aptos, CA, and Michael, of Maryland’s Eastern Shore. At his request, no services will be held. He will be interred at Oheb Shalom Memorial Park near Reisterstown, MD.
