

One of four children born to a father who immigrated to Michigan from the Netherlands and to a mother whose parents immigrated from England, Wilbert graduated from high school in Muskegon and subsequently served in the United States Air Force. Stationed in San Antonio, TX, he met and married his wife, Esther, who was serving in the Salvation Army in San Antonio at that time. Later, upon leaving the Air Force, Wilbert (known as “Bill”) moved his family to Dallas, where he eventually began working in banking operations. He retired as Senior Vice President from First City Bank in Dallas. Bowling, golfing, reading, growing roses and working crossword puzzles were his favorite hobbies.
Bill loved the Lord, his family, his church, the Salvation Army, and his Bible. He is survived by his son David Verhoeven and wife Cynthia; their son Thomas and his wife Josie; their son Daniel and his wife Alexis with their son Harry. He is also survived by his daughter, Deborah Everett and husband Neil; their son Matthew and his wife Sommer with their two children Miles and Remy; their son Joshua and his wife Raysa with their two children Alexander and Annaliara; and their son Jonathan and his wife Banu.
A visitation will be held from 10:00am-12:00pm on Friday, January 26, 2018. Funeral services will immediately follow at 12:00pm on Friday, January 26, 2018, all at Sparkman Funeral Home Chapel, 1029 S. Greenville Ave., Richardson, Texas 75081.
