William Middleton Baker passed from this earth on November 1, 2011 at his home in Richardson, Texas. He was a member of the Arapaho United Methodist Church in Richardson since 1975, and an active participant in the annual Parking Lot and Harvest Sale, the Pumpkin Patch, and any other capacity he was asked to serve.
Raised in his grandfather’s home in Tinkle Bottom, Emhouse, Texas, and attended school in Emhouse. Baker served as a US Marine from 1942 to 1946. In August 1946 he returned to Emhouse and found work in Corsicana at the Navarro Hotel, J.M. Dyer Co., Sherwin Williams, the State National Bank, and finally in November 1948, was employed as an accountant with Texas Power & Light Co., in Corsicana, Killeen, Waco, Commerce, Richardson and Garland, Texas and retired on April 1, 1985.
Baker spent his retirement year’s woodworking and researching the Hopkins-Gill family genealogy.
Born November 30, 1922 in Emhouse, TX., and is preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Mary Baker, mother Hattie Lou Ella Hopkins Baker, father John Alfred Baker, sisters Bertha Barlow, Bessie Fulton, Lula Mae Smith, Anna Pearl Brown, brothers S.A. Baker, Joe Baker, Thurman Baker, son-in-law Jerry Baldree. He is survived by his brother Jerry Baker of Irving, sister-in-law Mrs. R.T. (Mary) Baker of Corsicana, children Billy Baker and wife Athena of Wylie and Gayle Baldree of Plano, grandchildren Brad Baker, Ryan Baker and wife Elise, Logan Baldree, Brianne Baldree.
A visitation with friends and family will be held on Thursday, November 3 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at Sparkman Funeral Home in Richardson, TX. Funeral Service for Mr. Baker will be held on Friday, November 4th 2011, at 11:00 am at Sparkman Funeral Home's chapel. Burial to follow in Pattison Cemetery, Corsicana TX.
