Martha Frances Taylor

Martha was born in Greene County to the late Will and Eva Stanley. Preceding her in death was her beloved husband, Rufus Perry Taylor; brothers, Robert Stanley, Earl Stanley and Hardy Stanley and one grandson, William Gregory West. Martha had a love and flare for cooking. She served many business owners and their employees over the years. She started Martha’s Lunch a restaurant in down town Richlands in the early 60’s. Martha catered to the young and the old. From cheeseburgers, fries and shakes to chicken and collards. After selling her restaurant she still had that need to serve others. She continued to cook at The Deli at Richlands Piggly Wiggly, J & N Grocery and restaurants in Jacksonville. She was a past member of the Richlands Ruritan and she was a member of the First Christian Church in Richlands.

Martha is survived by two daughters, LaRel Taylor Hines and husband Phil of Porters Neck and Shirley Taylor Turner and husband A.W. of Richlands. She is also survived by her precious grandchildren, granddaughter Whitney Lynn Turner Ramsey of Richlands and grandson Arthur “William” Turner III and wife Angie of Richlands; four great grandchildren, Ryan West of Shelby, NC, Cassidy Jacoby, Cameron Turner and Christian Turner of Richlands. Martha has one living brother, Bobby “Pete” Stanley and wife Shirley of Jacksonville.

Funeral Services will be held at the First Baptist Church, Richlands at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 20, 2013 with Reverend Eddie Phenix and Reverend Gary McAbee officiating. Burial will follow at the Jacksonville City Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at First Baptist Church, Richlands from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. on Saturday and other times at A.W. & Shirley’s, 103 Perfect Ct., Richlands, NC.
