

Anne R English, 91, of San Rafael passed away peacefully on August 6, 2016. She was born in San Francisco’s North Beach on February 11, 1925 to Frank and Annetta Marconi from Filettole, Italy. She was married to George Richard English on September 30, 1950. Anne was a graduate of Galileo High School majoring in art. She loved her career as the first female display window trimmer, department decorator and all aspects of visual merchandising for the Emporium, earning many awards.
Anne was very active in Our Lady of Mercy Church in Westlake where she shared her artistic talents and spent many hours designing and constructing elaborate set designs for the annual Church Festival. Being an avid golfer, she belonged to the Olympic Club and Harding Park. Anne was a talented artist, master gardener specializing in Bonsai’s, gourmet cook, master bridge player and she loved animals.
She is survived by her son Richard F English, daughter in law Pam English, grandson Tyler English; her nieces Carol Valls, Laura Schorr, Linda Potter and their husbands, Rich Valls, Craig Schorr and John Potter along with her great niece Natalie Valls and great nephews Eric and David Valls.

Funeral arrangements will be held at 11am, August 11, 2016 at St. Raphael’s Church, San Rafael. A private burial at Holy Cross will be on Friday, August 12, 2016. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to Guide Dogs for the Blind, Hospice by the Bay or the Alzheimer’s Association.
