OBITUARY

Calvin Austin Grigsby

June 10, 1947June 6, 2021

Calvin Austin Grigsby, age 73, of Rio Vista, California passed away on Sunday, June 6, 2021.

Calvin Austin Grigsby was born on June 10, 1947 in Burtsell, Arkansas to Quinton and Grace Grigsby. He was the third child (a twin) of seven brothers, and three sisters-a family of ten children.

Calvin accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior, during his life.

In 1960, he moved with his family to California. Calvin attended both Jr. High School and Senior High School in the San Francisco Unified School District.

He married Dorothy Smith and during this union, they had two children: Calvin Austin, Jr. and Rose Marie. Later in life, Calvin married the former Linda Parker. Their union lasted for 45 years before her passing. There were no children born to this union.

Calvin worked as a long distanced truck driver for 36 years. He enjoyed driving his truck in and around, different parts of the United States, spending time with family and friends and most of all, he loved spending time with his wife Linda, at home and on the road, until he retired.

Calvin was preceded in death by his father, mother, eldest and youngest brothers - Eddie and Alfonzo, as well as, his son Calvin Jr. and daughter, Rose Marie, and lastly, his beloved wife Linda.

Calvin’s love for life and beloved spirit will forever be missed. He leaves to cherish his memory, his twin brother, Melvin Grigsby of San Jose, CA, and three younger brothers - James Grigsby (Phyllis) of Apple Valley, CA, Clifton David Grigsby (Mittie) of Oakland, CA, and Joe Grigsby (Beverly) of Cumberland, MD; three sisters - Mattie Padilla of Richmond, CA, Linda Taylor of Sacramento, CA, and Lillian Marie Ford (Tyrone) of Sacramento, CA; and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so, we will be with the Lord forever. 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 (NIV)
