Poppa was a great trickster in my childhood memory.  He would playfully try to guess my name from a long list in his imagination until I would finally blurt out through my giggles, "It's Tina!" He had a fabulously simple game that involved pulling on his ear or pushing his nose to magically move his stuck out tongue from one side of his mouth to the other. I was impressed to learn that his tools could be used for "kid" useful things like carving precise circles in my pumpkin.  I'll always treasure flying with him over my house and waving at my parents who appeared so tiny in our backyard.  He had an off the wall talent for wrapping Grammie's equally bizarre gifts in a way that no one in the family could possibly guess what was inside.
I am thankful for the many wonderful memories I have of my grandfather.   I love you Poppa.

Poppa loved playing with language.  He'd come up with tongue twisters and make sense out of nonsense.  He found humor in most situations.  He never ran out of stories.  He'd punctuate them with great facial expressions.  It took me a while as a kid to realize he was telling me particular stories for a reason.  There was usually a lesson in there somewhere.  You just had to wade through the humor to find it.  Words cannot express how keenly I'll miss him.  Farewell, Poppa.

There are many words to describe Darrell.  My words-he was a super, fantastic , great guy.  Elton and I always enjoyed being with the family.  Lola and Darrell always made us feel welcome.  We had many great times with them at their home and in Torrance.  Darrell had a way with words that would make you smile and usually laugh.  Again-super, fantastic,  great guy.

I am so sorry for the family's loss.  Please know you have left behind a wonderful loving family and I am proud to say you granddaughter is one of my best friends.  Her daughter is a part of your legacy.

My dad was a loving husband, father of 6, grandfather of 15 and great grandfather of 5.  We will all miss him.  His fun loving nature will not be forgottern. He loved his country as much as he loved his family.  I salute you but wish I could hug you.
