Evangelist Dr. Doris Marie Robinson, age 86, of Hercules, California passed away on Tuesday, July 5, 2022. She was one of eighteen children born on March 28, 1936, to the late Mother Carrie Evans and the late Papa Lonnie Evans.
Evangelist Doris was introduced to the Lord Jesus at an early age through her parents that brought her under the fear and admonition of the Lord. This was accomplished under the leadership of the late founder Bishop A.D. Bradley at New Bethel Apostolic Richmond, California.
Doris met the love of her life, George, at the New Bethel Church Of God In Christ Apostolic in 1956. After dating, they married at the courthouse in San Francisco. From this union, Doris and George had and raised six children: Joyce, Bob, George, Doretha, Raymond, and Mark. Doris and George believed education was the key to financial success. They guided their children to become attorneys, three real estate brokers, Bishops, Pastors, and business entrepreneurs.
Evangelist Robinson was true to her calling and traveled the world. The places included London England, France, Jamaica, Russia, Tahiti, Israel "the Holy Land", and Africa three times. She also traveled to Hawaii several times and throughout the United States of America. Doris was a cosmetologist for over half a century as well as a cosmetologist instructor. She trained and licensed hundreds of young people in the cosmetology industry throughout California. Simultaneously, she helped students start several businesses of their own.
Evangelist Doris authored the book "Love, Hope, Faith." Psalms 46:1 tells us that God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. With all the uncertainty, heavy hearts, and sadness, Evangelist Robinson taught us Ephesians 6:10. "Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and the power of his might." Mother Robinson inspired her children to be educated, disciplined, competitive, and prepared for life. Working long hours was the example she demonstrated, and she said, "when you're off from work, work some more." Her famous statement was "hard work never hurt anyone."
Through her diligence, she taught us not to look at what we have done, instead look at where we can go. Also, what matters is not the duration of your life, but the donation of your life. Mother Robinson would tell us that love isn't loving until you give it away. That you're living your obituary right now. She loved us all!
Evangelist Doris was preceded in death by her husband, George E. Robinson, Sr., two daughters, Joyce and Doretha; her parents, grandparents, and sixteen siblings.
She is survived by her only living sibling Willie C. Evans, four of her children, Bob, George Jr., Mark, and Raymond, and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews; and dear friends.
A public viewing for Evangelist Dr. Doris Robinson will be held Friday, July 15, 2022, from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Fuller Funerals, Inc, 3100 Cutting Blvd, Richmond, CA 94804.
