Emma Pauline Jones

Emma Pauline Jones nee Clark Dec. 6, 1928 - March 19, 2012 A native of Lynchburg, VA, Emma arrived in Buffalo, NY in 1942 where she fell in love with musician Curtis Jones. They were married September 23, 1950, four months after Emma graduated from the E.J. Meyer Memorial School of Nursing at the University of New York at Buffalo. She spent 42 years as an R.N. working in obstetrics and pediatrics, with the last five years of work in geriatrics. She retired in 1990, and cared for her husband until his death in October of that year. After frequently traveling between coasts, she finally relocated to California in 1996 to be with her daughter, Cheryl, who says her mother was the perfect roommate, and found the 16 years since to have been the best of their lives. Together they shared the love of a large circle of mutual friends, and with Emma's personality, that circle was forever growing. Emma loved quiet times with the flowers and plants in her garden, but was always up for a good party and was a phenomenal cook. Friends often looked to her for wisdom, and her beautiful smile, her quirkiness, and her love for the Lord brought something special to the lives of everyone around her. She will be missed by her canine companion, Molly, and feline friends, Sam and Felix. But most of all, she will be missed by her daughter, Cheryl, for whom Emma was a special angel from God who someday had to go home. Emma's greatest gift to her daughter was the confidence that mom always had her back, and that she will continue to be there for her. Cheryl wishes to extend a special thanks to Dr. Jerald Young and the Emergency Department Staff at Marin General Hospital. She knows that their excellent care prolonged the years of joy and love with her mother, and she will always be grateful to them. A Homecoming Memorial Reception for Emma will be held on Saturday, April 28, 2012 from 12-4:00 p.m. at the Marin Yacht Club, 24 Summit Ave., San Rafael.
