A LIMB HAS FALLEN FROM THE FAMILY TREE...

I keep hearing a voice that says, "Grieve not for me." Remember the best times, the laughter, the song. The good life I lived while I was strong. Continue my heritage, I'm counting on you. Keep smiling and surely the sun will shine through. My mind is at ease, my soul is at rest. Remembering all, how I truly was blessed. Continue traditions, no matter how small. Go on with your life, don't worry about falls. I miss you all dearly, so keep up your chin. Until the day comes we're together again.

Mary L. Kearney, age 75, of San Pablo, CA passed quietly away on Wednesday, April 21, 2021. Mary was born on February 1, 1946 to Robert Suggs and Susie (nee Gipson) Suggs in the state of Anguilla, Mississippi.

Mary relocated to California with her family as a young child. She attended elementary and junior high schools in Oakland and graduated from Oakland Technical High School in 1964. She was a resident of Contra Costa County for over 55 years.

In 1972, she married her beloved husband, Robert L. Kearney, who passed away less than two weeks before her. They did not have any children together, but, helped each other to raise her two children and two of his three , as well as, several grandchildren. They were active members of the Greater El Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in the Parchester Village area of Richmond, CA, for over 32 years.

She held several positions in various professions during her lifetime, and retired as a transportation clerk for Greyhound Bus Lines after 23 years.

Mary's life mantra was "to give and serve others." She was known to volunteer with different church and community events. She loved giving back to the health professionals through Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Richmond who treated she and her husband, Robert by providing them homemade desserts on a weekly basis, until her health started declining. Her specialty's were Banana, Key Lime, Strawberry, and Chocolate Cakes.

Mary was a true matriarch of her family, known for her loving kindness. She will be missed more than words can ever express. Her legacy will continue on through her family; children - Janice Germany, I and Alonzo Smith (Terrie); grandchildren - Shamika Smith Bennett, Alonzo Smith, Jr., Jordana Smith and Alyssa Smith; siblings - Hilda Suggs, James Morris, Rodella Suggs, and Florene Suggs.
