Aliene Marie Hollingsworth, born on October 21, 1934 to the union of the late Howard C. and Bessie Bell Dedrick (nee Vaughn) in Baton Rouge, LA. She passed away in Greenbrae, CA, at the age of 86 on Tuesday, March 2, 2021.
Before moving to Marin City, Aliene attended Catholic school in Baton Rouge and later attended school in Sausalito and Mill Valley, CA. She graduated, earning her diploma in 1955 from Mt. Tamalpais High School.
Aliene accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at the age of 12. For 75 years, she was a member of First Missionary Baptist Church (FMBC) where she was a devoted and faithful servant of God. Mother Hollingsworth, as she was affectionately called, held several titles and was involved in various church groups at FMBC. Some of them included being a Pastor's Aide; BTU Sunday Morning, Sunday School Teacher, Secretary to the General Mission, Choir Member, Choir Chaplin, Deaconess and her most recent and beloved role of Mother of the Church (August 2010). Mother Hollingsworth was an Ambassador of Christ, always sharing the good news about Jesus Christ to anyone and everyone.
In 1972, Mother Hollingsworth found a passion working with children in Early Childhood Education and began her life-long career as a Professional Educator for 39 years, retiring in 2006.
One of Mother Hollingsworth's favorite hobbies was traveling. She believed and would say "if you save your money, you can go!" and go, she went. Mother Hollingsworth was blessed to travel to places like St. Thomas, China, Hawaii, Amsterdam, London, and Mexico with her "travel buddies."
Mother Aliene Marie (Dedrick) Hollingsworth was the matriarch and nucleus of her family, known for her loving kindness. She will be loved and missed more than words can ever express. She instilled in them the legacy to always put God first in everything they do, love one another and trust that God will never leave nor forsake you. Her legacy will continue on through her children; Linda Joyce Daniels (Rev. F. T.), Patrece Mechelle Clark-Hill (Ricky), grandchildren; Cameron James Roberts, Trevon Leroy Clark and niece-granddaughter Gionna Nicole Younger. Her siblings; Carolyn L. Kelley (Malcom) and Carl J. Dedrick (Jacqueline). Goddaughters; Toni A. Smith, Yonderlan Coleman, Mona Chivers and Sharon Turner. Godson: Martin Coleman, as well as, a host of relatives, extended family, lifelong friends and loved ones.
The Homegoing Celebration for Mother Hollingsworth will be held Friday, March 19, 2021 at 11:00 AM at First Missionary Baptist Church in Marin City, CA followed by an interment service at Mt. Tamalpais Cemetery in San Rafael, CA.
