

Robert J. Coyle Robert Coyle of Novato passed away at home on October 6, 2012, after a brief illness. Bob was born November 12, 1926, in San Francisco to James and Mary Desmond Coyle, attended Holy Redeemer School and Mission High School before joining the Merchant Marines. After that service he joined the SFPD until being drafted into the Army for a two-year tour. Returning from the Army he became a member of the San Francisco Fire Department where he served for 30 years, retiring as Captain in 1977. Bob was an avid golfer until his later years, and in his younger days played handball for the San Francisco Olympic Club, winning the Pacific Amateur Association championship in 1952. Bob is survived by his wife of 47 years, Mary Lou, daughter Sabrina Coyle, son and daughter-in-law James and Nani Coyle, all of Novato, CA; grand daughters Alessandra Coyle-Anaya, Cecilia Avina, Meaghan Coyle, Keilah Coyle, Jenna Coyle, Kylie Bradley, grandson James Coyle, Jr., and three great-granddaughters, Adriana, Kaylee and Julia. Bob was predeceased by his six siblings, William and Richard Coyle, Mary Woodside, Gerry Hans, Dolores Smith, and his half-sister, Zita Donati. A funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of Loretto, Novato, CA at 10:30 AM on Saturday, October 13, 2012. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice by the Bay, 17 E. Sir Francis Drake Blvd., Larkspur, CA 94939, or a charity of your choice . A special blessing to granddaughter Cecilia Avina who cared for him so lovingly during his final illness.
