Dana was born in Arkansas City, Kansas to Wilbur and Marguritte Newman on July 4, 1951. He graduated high school at Texas City High School in Texas City, Texas. He married
Teresa Irene Robinson on December 29, 2007 in Rosenberg, Texas. He graduated from University of Houston. He worked as an IT supervisor for McDonough Corporation later in his career, but he was first last and always a musician and continued playing locally for many years. He was a veteran of Vietnam and served in the Air Force.
Dana is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Jeff Newman.
Dana is survived by his wife Teresa, his son Joel Robinson and daughter-in-law Tami Robinson and their children, Dustin Ray Neal and Heather Ashley Robinson-Rodriguez and one great-grand daughter, Willow Rodriguez. Dana is also survived by his sister, Janet Lynchard and her children plus numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
