A Life Rooted in Love | 1955–2026
Some people leave their mark on the world through their accomplishments. Others leave theirs through the way they make people feel. Glenn Pitcher did both.
Glenn was born on August 7, 1955, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, to Freddie Pitcher Sr. and Lucy Angrum Pitcher. He attended Valley Park Elementary School, Valley Park Junior High School, and Tara High School before pursuing technical training and earning an associate degree. His spiritual foundation began early in life when he was baptized by Rev. W. M. Pitcher at Sixty Aid Baptist Church, and he later became a member of Higher Dimension Church in Katy, Texas. Glenn lived a life grounded in faith, putting God first and allowing that foundation to guide the way he loved, served, and cared for others.
Glenn was a kind, loving, and naturally outgoing man who never met a stranger. Whether it was “Hey there!”, “Hey darling!”, or “Hey man!”, he greeted everyone like they belonged. He loved conversation, telling stories, joking, and laughing, and he made people feel welcomed, valued, and special. Since his passing, one sentiment has been echoed by nearly everyone who knew him: “Glenn was a good man.”
Glenn met his beloved wife, Tonya Sutton, at Brighton Gardens Assisted Living, and the two were married on July 27, 1997. For nearly three decades, their marriage was rooted in love, friendship, and partnership. Glenn’s easygoing nature, sense of humor, and unwavering support were among the many ways he expressed his love. Together, they built a life centered on family, shared dreams, and caring for others.
Above all, Glenn cherished his family. As a father, he made his children feel heard, seen, and supported. He celebrated their accomplishments, encouraged their dreams, and was there when they needed him. An avid sports enthusiast, Glenn loved football, basketball, baseball, and golf. His remarkable knowledge of players, teams, and statistics made sports conversations, especially with his sons, a treasured part of family life.
Throughout his career, Glenn served as Director of Maintenance at several assisted living facilities. He brought technical expertise, dedication, and genuine care to his work, helping create safe and comfortable environments for residents. A gifted craftsman, Glenn could envision possibilities and bring them to life with his hands. In 2024, he and Tonya built The Woodshop by GP Services together, where his creativity and attention to detail helped make special celebrations memorable.
On September 29, 2026, Glenn departed this earthly life, leaving a legacy of love, kindness, service, and cherished memories.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Freddie Pitcher Sr. and Lucy Angrum Pitcher; his brother, Floyd Lee Pitcher; and his beloved first cousin and best friend, Benny Bruce Beshears.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Tonya Sutton Pitcher; his children, Corbin Glynn Pitcher (ShaRon), Dr. Taylor Sutton-Clark, and Kyle Davis Pitcher; his grandchildren, Christina Renee Shepard and Kyrie Airmais Pitcher; his granddog, Bella; his siblings, Retired Judge Freddie Pitcher Jr. (Harriette), Larry Wayne Pitcher (Janis), and Juanita P. Winfield (Russell); his sister-in-law, Murriel Pitcher; Corbin’s mother, Debra Welch; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
“Let all that you do be done in love.” — 1 Corinthians 16:14
And that is exactly how Glenn lived.
